what is it?

Our Reef to Outback DTS runs from the world famous Great Barrier Reef to the rugged Australian outback and beyond. We have been running this DTS for over 14 years, with hundreds of students attending. The outreaches can be quite diverse, reaching out to the youth of our region, indigenous communities, and our Asia – Pacific neighbours.

The Reef to Outback DTS is your opportunity to travel with a purpose. In addition to all the classic elements of a DTS – learning about God and relationships, equipping for life and ministry, and practical experience in community outreach – the Reef to Outback DTS will take you from the beautiful Australian coast all the way to camping in the Aussie bush… and beyond!

Watch yourself come alive as you develop in your personal character, build lifetime friendships with your fellow students (yep, you might even call them your “mates”), and come away with stories of how you reached out to help change lives and even nations.

From the reef to the outback, if you’re wanting to get equipped for your future and ask some of the big questions about life and God all while having a bit of Aussie adventure, this is the DTS for you!

what does it cost?

Course costs: $4,490 AUD – Enrolment fee, registration fee, course deposit, tuition, camping, food, and accommodation. (Additional $249 AUD OSHC for international students). It does not include visa or personal expenses such as toiletries, laundry, snacks, postage, etc. The DTS fees do not include your transportation to and from YWAM Townsville. Outreach costs: $2000 – $4000 – This fee covers transportation costs within Australia or the cross-cultural outreach. It covers expenses like airfare, overseas outreach insurance, vehicle running costs, bus/train tickets, extra visas, food, accommodation, and administration. The costs can vary greatly in price depending on which outreach location you choose.
