what is it?

With over 3 billion young people in the world today, we are living amongst the largest youth generation in history, yet our youth are facing unprecedented challenges – with suicide, self-harm and eating disorders robbing them from an incredible future.

Want to make a real difference and help bring hope to a generation?

This DTS is set amongst a thriving youth ministry. Not only are you staring down the barrel of a God-filled adventure where you’ll experience all the usual elements of a DTS and grow in your own character and relationships, you’ll also be directly linked into Aussie youth culture and be involved in mentoring young people!

You will have the chance to gain first hand experience in some of the following:

Setting up and leading youth camps
Running large youth events and youth leadership seminars
Taking youth on mission trips (overseas and nationally)
Get loads of practice in running small groups, crazy games, up front speaking and team leading.
And you will have weekly opportunities to link in with the local skate, music, art, and hip hop scene!

What better way to get equipped for your future than an internship-like setting where you’ll have the opportunity to apply what you know and what you’re learning every single week with some amazing young people?

If you are into skateboarding or music, wanting to learn rugby, or an art genius; be sure to bring your gear. There’ll be plenty of opportunity to put those skills into practice as you share them with the youth you’re working with. From hanging in the city and chilling by the beach to camping in the bush, get ready for the ride of your life as you’re equipped to make a difference and fully experience Aussie culture like none other. when does it start?

what does it cost?

Course costs: $4,490 AUD – Enrolment fee, registration fee, course deposit, tuition, camping, food, and accommodation. (Additional $249 AUD OSHC for international students). It does not include visa or personal expenses such as toiletries, laundry, snacks, postage, etc. The DTS fees do not include your transportation to and from YWAM Townsville.
Outreach costs: $2000 – $4000 – This fee covers transportation costs within Australia or the cross-cultural outreach. It covers expenses like airfare, overseas outreach insurance, vehicle running costs, bus/train tickets, extra visas, food, accommodation, and administration. The costs can vary greatly in price depending on which outreach location you choose.
