It must be geography that made us friends...

About Me:
Lets see, what can I tell you about myself? I have currently been on staff with RTO from almost 7 years. I came here fresh out of high school and haven't left since. I remember thinking when I first came how young I was compared to everyone else. How far away it would be before people born in the 90's would be coming our way. That time I realize is now upon us but in some ways I still feel like I am still that 18 year old kid.

Music and social injustice are two things that I am incredibly passionate about. Even as a child I was very empathetic. And if you hear my mom tell it, I apparently could sing before I could talk. Over the past few years I have been shaken to my core because of the growing human trafficing rate. I have been to Thailand and seen first hand people treated as bargaining peices. There is so much to know if you are willing to look. Music is a universal langauge. It speaks when we can't and can go places we wouldn't dare go. I want to be a part of seeing how music can continue to be a voice for those who don't have one.

Currently I am the Leader of the SOMM here at RTO. As a school we are also passionate about using music to be a voice. It is an incredible privilege for me to be apart of what God is doing. And honestly I never would have seen this coming...what started out as a huge step has turned into a journey with God that I would not change for the world!!

Maybe Geography made us friends...

This is a bit of a photo journey... It's been 6 1/2 years since I joined staff and I am still going strong. This past year has been one of the craziest and there is nothing like a picture to say what words can't...so I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

Shifting Sand

I find time a strange occurrence, we live our lives by it, it becomes a constant for us and yet nothing about it is tangible. I remember growing up I used to think that time couldn’t move fast enough. I was certain that it was standing still and that I would be in school forever. I was also quite convinced that napping added to this time phenomenon, I did everything in my power to keep from giving in. So much so that my teacher had to put me in the older kids class because I just wouldn’t sleep.… Continue

From change to Breaking and Entering

The month of November is here and we are preparing for what is said to be one of the hottest summers on record. I don't know that I am looking forward to that much, but I guess it comes with the territory. My flat is situated on a main road and its actually the only residential set of flats on the street. Its common to hear trains, sidewalk conversation, speed racing...and yes even dog racing. Not much phases me anymore. You get used to pausing your movie while the trains pass or yelling out the… Continue

From Beginning to End....SOMM 2008

May 31st marked the last day of outreach for the SOMM. We were in Mt .Isa at a Community Center, playing our very last concert as Not Without. I stood at the back with the strangest sense. It was a mixture of sheer joy/pride laced with a hint of sadness. I don’t know if I can describe to you the reason for these mixed emotions but I will try. We started out as 10 strangers (for the most part) with different backgrounds, musical styles, skill levels and preferences. Together we allowed God to bre… Continue

Hey girl, sorry it took so long to respond, the website did not seem to be working for me the other day. Yes I LOVE to sing! I have done it my entire life. In plays, talent shows, pageants and karaoke. Anywhere that I can. I have not been part of a choir though. I have sung in Church before however by myself. I could use some training and im so excited that I will hopefully be getting the training in Austalia and prob with you!
