YWAM - Australia Reef to Outback

If you haven't visited YWAM Reef to Outback lately, let me paint you a picture -

At any given time, our 88 full time volunteer staff (average age 22) are bustling around the warehouse facility planning outreaches, training young adults, loading vehicles with sound equipment to head into high schools, practicing cultural dances, and working administratively to make sure everything goes smooth

Add to that 10-50 students at any given time - who, when not in lectures are playing pool or Skype-ing back home with their families on the wireless internet as those administrative people step over them trying to get to the copy room.

And add to that another heap of teenagers who used to turn up on Saturdays but ended up liking us so much that they want to stop by and hang out after school too - for help on homework, advice on friendships, tips on getting a job, or just to hang out.

Its a bustling place of activity and we see a need of a better space for some of the hustle and bustle to cater for the teenagers we really want to bless.

And that's where you come in! This year, we are aiming to build out a new area of our warehouse (the old maintenance area, if you're familiar with the property) into a sweet youth spot. Outfitted with a cafe, computers, tables and chairs, this would be the hub of youth activity on our centre during the week. Especially designed to be staffed by our awesome volunteers, it would be an incredible opportunity to reach out and make a home for many young people to be mentored and have a safe place to spend their afternoons.

We've been sending in all kinds of applications for grants for the money, trying to raise $30,000-$40,000 to make this a reality. Now, what we really need is people to help build it!

Do you have 2 weeks or more you could come out to give us a hand? Whether a team or an individual, highly skilled or just generally happy to help out, we've got a job for you!

Its a six week project and here are some of the specific roles we're hoping to fill. We'd love if you'd consider coming to volunteer your time, take part in our amazing community, and invest into the lives of literally thousands of young people. Click here for application details.
